| Purusatraya Swami appeared in this world, in Rio de Janeiro, on September 2, 1945. He joined the Hare Krishna movement in 1976, thirty years old, receiving the two initiations of the founder-acarya Srila Prabhupada. Since then, He has been fully active in the mission of Srila Prabhupada. He spent a short time working in publishing, BBT. After that, He has dealt in the public distribution of literature, particularly the first edition of the "Bhagavad-gita As It Is." He engaged himself in this very activity, so that in 1977, he was among the top ten distributors of Prabhupada's books in the world. In February 1978, shortly after the departure of Srila Prabhupada from this world, He had his first opportunity to visit several holy places of pilgrimage in India. From there, he became engaged in administrative activities of the movement. He received the initiation of sannyasa, the highest degree of monastic career in 1985, in Mayapur, India. He visited also several other Asian countries and
then move towards in India. He walked the four corners of this country, but in the end, he established his base in Vrindavan, the holy land of Krishna.
